The mare threshing release is an ancient country tradition, which consists of mares that are going to separate wheat treading seeds of the post.
Threshing was practiced in ancient Egypt and Rome, then was introduced to Spain then come to America. Chile has been practiced in the colony until the mid-twentieth century, where the animals are replaced by machines which is killing off a bit this ancient tradition.
But in some villages in Chile still retains an air of celebration where the mares while running around the ERA (where you put the wheat) background traditional music is heard in the area.
In this case the images belong to the 1 º Trilla mare loose Purén held in 2007.
